Hi, everyone! So today is gonna be a little bit different, as I would like to just get some opinions on dub or sub out. This time I'll be focusing on One Piece, my favorite anime of all time!

So,the other day I saw that One Piece film Z was on YouTube in english dub, and I thought "Why the hell not", and just went for it. And to be honest it wasn't nearly as bad as I feared!

Most of their voices fit really well, and I was only disappointed by a few of them. Robin and Nami's voices were perfect and I absolutely loved them. Most of the other crewmates had awesome voices as well, but I honestly have to say I was hoping that Brook would have a British accent... Not something I can't live with, though!

Now, the ones I wasn't as pleased with actually included THE main character! I found Luffy's voice a little too... crusty...? I don't really know how to explain this, but basically, there are two different types of voices, the soft and clear ones, and the cloudy ones. Now, since Luffy's japanese voice actor, Tanaka Mayumi has a clear voice, I think it was too big of a leap between those two voices for me.

Another voice I wasn't enjoying as much as the others was Choppers. I feel like when they hired Choppers voice actress, they cared a little too much about him being cute, and not so much about Chopper actually being a man. Because despite his normally adorable appearance, he can actually be quite threatening.

Other voices I didn't like in particular included Kizaru, Akainu and Ain, but I won't go into detail with them as well.

So, would I recommend you watch One Piece dubbed or subbed? If you are learning english, or you have trouble keeping up with the subs, I recommend watching the dub, but if you would rather have better voice acting, go for the original. Also, if you wanna stay up to date on One Piece, you have to either read the manga or at least watch the subbed version, as the dub is still far far behind.
In the end it depends on what you want, but I know I will continue watching the subbed version, as I am literally in love with Luffy's voice, and I 'll also continue reading the manga, as that one tops both the other options easily.
